SOMERSET SOCIAL GROUP EVENTS
We offer hundreds of events every year, including social events, dining out, parties, balls, themed events, murder mystery, quiz evenings, indoor activities, outdoor activities, walks, days out, weekend breaks, short breaks, and international holidays!
Events mostly take place in the evenings, at weekends during the day, and on weekend evenings. But we sometimes have midweek lunch time events as well. It’s a mixture. What we offer is varied every month and seasonally. At certain times of the year, there’s lots of outdoor activities. At other times, lots of dining out. At other times, lots of parties. We vary what we do throughout the year, keeping what’s on in Somerset fresh and interesting!
Events are held all across the Somerset region on a regular basis.

On Budget Membership, standard events can be booked for just £5 from this web site. However, for each Budget Member who has a current copy of Social Group Magazine, with the appropriate special discount code, standard events can be booked for as little as just £2.50.
ACROSS SOMERSET
WELLINGTON, TAUNTON, BRIDGWATER, & EXMOOR
Previous events have included meals all around this area, including everything from low cost pizza evenings, to pub carveries, to French, Chinese, Indian, and Italian restaurants, to fine dining and bistros, and country pubs. Lots of events in Taunton, plus others in Wellington, Minehead, Bridgwater, and lots of small villages too. We’ve held numerous dinner & disco parties, including themed parties, black tie balls, vintage 1920′s dinners, and murder mystery dinners, including Oake Manor Golf Club, Bindon House Country Hotel, and the Taunton Holiday Inn. We’ve seen a UB40 tribute band and a Blondie tribute band. We’ve had drinks evenings with free champagne at Mambo in Taunton. We’ve been to The Great British Alternative Music Festival at Butlins Minehead. There’s been lots of entertainment, including cinema, theatre, comedy, nightlife, and concerts. We’ve featured West Somerset Steam Railway. We’ve been to the Cedar Falls Health Spa. Activities have included ten pin bowling, jet bikes, and walking in Exmoor National Park. And we’ve featured nearby Quad World in Devon. There’s been several car treasure hunts, plus days out, tours of cider farms, a visit to the Somerset Museum in Taunton, and much more!
YEOVIL & SOUTH SOMERSET
Previous events have included meals all around this area, including everything from low cost pizza evenings, to Chinese, Indian, Thai, and Italian restaurants, to fine dining and bistros, and country pubs. Lots of events in Yeovil, plus others in Chard, Crewkerne, South Petherton, Somerton, Castle Cary, Wincanton, Sherborne, and lots of small villages too. There’s been ‘dinner & disco’ party nights, plus theatre, comedy, and cinema. We’ve featured pub skittles at South Cadbury and Ilchester, and been to see Yeovil Town FC. Days out have included Haynes Motor Museum, the Terry Prachett shop in Wincanton, Cricket St Thomas, Fleet Air Arm Museum, and Wincanton Racecourse. In nearby East Devon, we’ve featured Beer Caves, Seaton Trams, the Norman Lockyer Observatory, and walks along the south coast. In nearby Dorset, we featured zorbing near Dorchester, fireworks at Sherborne Castle, fossil hunting on the beach at Charmouth, and informal events on the coast at Bridport and Lyme Regis. There’s been flying lessons, skydiving and parachute jumps at the Devon & Somerset Parachute Centre at Dunkeswell, plus grand prix karting at the nearby Mansell Raceway.
CENTRAL SOMERSET & NORTH EAST SOMERSET
Previous events have included meals all around this area, including everything from low cost pizza evenings, to Greek, Chinese, Indian, and Italian restaurants, to fine dining and bistros, and country pubs. Events in Street, Glastonbury, Wells, Shepton Mallet, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Frome, Bath, and many smaller villages. There’s been dinner & disco party nights, plus theatre, comedy, and cinema. We’ve supported the annual Wedmore Real Ale Festival and fancy dress party night. There’s been lots of walks in the Mendips, plus visits to Ashton Windmill and Nunney Castle. Days out have included Glastonbury Abbey, Glastonbury Tor, and Longleat Safari Park. We’ve done Wookey Hole several times, including a Doctor Who convention with lots of Daleks. We’ve featured the Willows & Wetland Centre, several cider farms and museums, the American Museum near Bath, gone cycling and boating on the Bath canal, and much more!
WESTON SUPER MARE & NORTH SOMERSET
Previous events have included meals all around this area, including everything from pub carveries and steak houses, to Thai, Chinese, Indian and Italian restaurants, to fine dining, and country pubs. Events in Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare, Congresbury, Clevedon, Portishead, Nailsea, Chew Magna, plus across the Mendips including Cheddar and Wells, and many more in nearby Bristol. There’s been dinner & disco party nights, plus theatre, comedy, and cinema. We’ve featured numerous party events at Cadbury House Hotel, including tribute evenings, Christmas parties, and a Black Tie Summer Ball. We’ve also been to the Webbington Hotel, the Batch Hotel, the Swan Hotel in Wells, and Rookery Manor, had a 1940′s Dance at Tyntesfield and held a 1920′s themed dinner party at Brent Knoll. Activities have included walking along the coast and in the Mendip Hills, abseiling and caving at Cheddar Gorge, crazy golf at Cheddar Gorge, horse riding on the Mendips, paintball at Hamburger Hill, clay shooting, archery, and skiing at the Avon Ski Centre. Days out have included Noah’s Ark Zoo, and much more!

What’s on changes every month and is different at different times of the year, with new people joining all through the year, keeping things fresh. What’s on next month will be different to what’s on this month. Our aim is to constantly provide something new and interesting to join in with and enjoy!
TRANSPORT
Except for occasional coach excursions and boat trips, we don’t provide transport. Most Cornwall Social Group members have their own cars. Those who don’t drive get around by train, bus, or taxi. Members often car share and offer lifts to events further afield, sharing petrol costs.
